This is the first of what I hope to be many updates to my new author website. The Ha'penny Steps trilogy was finally published in August this year, after four years in the making.  It was the first time that I had attempted a historical novel, and the research and editing took such a long time to ensure that there was historical accuracy throughout.

I enjoyed writing the series, and I was determined to complete all three before they were published.  It can be so annoying when a reader finishes the first of a series and then has to wait for the next one!  On pre-publication, the books have been reviewed positively.

So, as part of the welcome to my website, I am offering a free review copy of Book 1 of the series, Maruska's Story, to all those who sign up. The book will automatically be uploaded to your email address. If you read the book, please leave an honest review on Goodreads or any of the platforms from where you normally purchase your Ebooks.  For those of you who prefer a physical copy, the series is available in paperback.

Some news.

During the editing stages of the trilogy, I wrote a semi-autobiographical novel, primarily aimed at a young adult audience, concerning the relationship between two completely disparate youngsters beginning in the 1970s and charts the ups and downs of teenage life at school, university and the world of work.  More of this at a later date when it is published.  There will, of course, be free review copies!

I appear to have ceased writing about London crime for the moment, although I will return to it in the near future.

I am currently writing a Victorian melodrama of deceit, betrayal and corruption set in London in the middle of 19th Century; more of this later.
