About CR Spencer

CR Spencer is an independent author. He is a graduate of Manchester University and King’s College, London and worked extensively in education as a school principal and inspector. He worked for ten years in Germany where he travelled the world. His travels have influenced his writing. His first serious work, The Penance trilogy, is centred around the character of Dagmar Johnson. Dagmar’s character is an amalgamation of many of the fiesty females he has come across during his working life. The author has spent his life writing technical pieces about education. He always wanted to write fiction. He has a broad taste when it comes to reading. He likes the crime noir of war time Berlin and political biographies. He has read everything that Thomas Hardy has ever written.

CR Spencer currently lives and works in the south of France where he enjoys practising his French, the rolling vineyards and active village life.  He plays the guitar with local bands when he is not writing.

He has just finished The Ha’penny Steps trilogy which tells the story of a small time black marketeer in London at the height of the Blitz together with a group of ladies. Three of the ladies each have their own story ranging from espionage, murder and mayhem and the complexities of living and surviving during the war.

He has also just finished a semi-autobiographical young adult’s story about the relationship between two young persons in London commencing in the 1970’s.  He found this a pleasure to write.

He has just commenced a Victorian melodrama that explores the themes of betrayal, deceit, love and lust.
